Telangana Surpasses Andhra Pradesh In Terms Of Economic Growth

Delhi/Hyderabad, Sept 19 (Maxim News): Telangana has highlighted tremendous economic growth since its bifurcation from Andhra Pradesh in a recent working paper by the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council.

The paper titled “Relative Economic Performance of Indian States: 1960-61 to 2023-24“, compared the economic performance of both the states and found that Telangana outperformed Andhra Pradesh.

GDP share: Telangana’s share in India’s GDP has increased from 3.8% in 2010-11 to 4.9% in 2023-24, higher than Andhra Pradesh’s share of 4.7%.

Per capita income: Telangana’s per capita income will exceed the national average by 193.6% by 2023-24, compared to 131.6% in Andhra Pradesh.

Since the economic reforms of 1991, the southern states have experienced impressive economic growth. Within a decade of these reforms, all Southern states exceeded per capita national income.

Per capita income: Telangana ranks first among the southern states in terms of per capita income, followed by Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh.

Contribution to GDP: Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala together account for 30% of India’s GDP. (Maxim News)
