Telangana Waqf Board In Crisis: Expenses More Than Income: Azmatullah Husseni 

Hyderabad, Nov 10 (Maxim News):  The Telangana Waqf Board Chairman Syed Azmatullah Husseni has categorically admitted that the financial position of the Waqf Board is in crisis, stating that the Waqf Board expenditure is more than the income. This comment has been made by the Chairman while answering the question raised by the INDTODAY at the press conference recently held.

With regards to the promotion and taking the new staff in the Waqf Board, this issue has been referred to the Committee constituted to gather opinion on the issues of the employees and taking the new staff. However, he assured that promotion of the staff is being taken up on the recommendation of the Committee which will gauge the performance of the employees, based on which promotion will be given.

Concerning defaulters in paying rent of the Waqf properties by the occupiers, the Chairman assured that the defaulters’ names will be exposed, he said that on many issues, cases are going on in many cases. He said that he took charge 10 months back and in this 4 to 5 months have gone without doing any work on these issues due to the elections. Because of this, he got only 4 to 5 months to study all these cases.

He said that there are non-Muslims working in some of the departments such as Survey/Inquiry etc. This is only because of the non-availability of qualified staff among Muslims in some of the positions.  However, steps are being taken to select eligible candidates from the Muslim community.  

He also said that the construction of the two buildings close to the Waqf Board will restart soon, as the Wakf Board is holding discussions with the local contractors for the construction of those incomplete buildings and new construction in the open space.  He said, that as of the G.O. 1 of 2017, the government has called for the Global Tender for the construction of these buildings, but no contractor from the global level has come forward, hence it has been decided to go to the local tenders, he said.
