Tension In MLC Polling: BJP And Congress Cadres Pelted Stones
Mancherial/Hyderabad, Feb 27 (Maxim News): Polling for the Graduate MLC elections in Telangana began at 8 am on Thursday. The situation was calm in some places and tense in others. In this context, an argument broke out between BJP and Congress factions at Teegal Pahad polling station in Naspur Municipality of Mancherial district, leading to a tense situation.
Activists of both parties protested, claiming that a local SI had assaulted a BJP leader. This led to Congress workers attacking BJP workers. They pelted stones at each other. As tension arose between the two factions, the police intervened and dispersed both factions, and brought the situation under control. Meanwhile, Police Commissioner Srinivas is reviewing the situation there to ensure that no untoward incidents occur.
BJP and Congress workers at polling stations since morning
In the wake of the Graduate MLC elections, BJP and Congress workers have been deployed at polling stations in large numbers since this morning. In this context, local BJP leader Kamalakara Rao got into an argument with the SI, alleging that the local SI was acting in favor of the Congress. Due to this, BJP workers started a protest, saying that the SI had attacked the BJP leader. On the other hand, Congress workers also rushed to the BJP ranks. This led to an argument and a fight between the two groups. At one stage, the situation deteriorated and workers from both groups pelted stones at each other. Police Commissioner Srinivas, who came to know about the matter, reached the spot and brought the situation under control. Both parties took these elections seriously.
The MLC election polling began across the Adilabad joint district on Thursday morning. 69,134 graduates and 5,693 teacher voters will exercise their right to vote. Officials have set up 150 polling stations. voting is underway in the ballot method. Security has been set up with 1,500 election personnel and 2,000 police officers on duty. The mancherial district has the highest number of voters. Male voters are key here. Similarly, polling is continuing peacefully across the Nizamabad joint district. Graduates and teachers are eagerly clocking in to cast their votes. In this order, the police have set up tight security at the polling stations. (Maxim News)
