TGPSC To Challenge Single Bench Verdict On Group-1 Exam

Hyderabad, Sept 9 (Maxim News): TGPSC has decided to challenge the High Court’s single bench verdict on Group 1 examination. The Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) is considering an appeal to the division bench against the single bench verdict. The TGPSC is exploring legal avenues to move forward with the High Court verdict.

There is disappointment and anguish among the selected candidates over the court verdict. Candidates selected for the jobs are also expected to go to the division bench, it is reported that the TGPSC is considering going to the division bench after receiving the copy of the High Court verdict.

It is known that the single bench of the Telangana High Court has cancelled the results of Group 1 mains. It issued a verdict on Tuesday, cancelling the already announced general ranking list. Justice Namavarapu Rajeshwara Rao announced this verdict. It ordered the revaluation of Group 1 Mains papers. The High Court has made it clear to TGPSC that the results should be declared based on the revaluation. The court has ordered that the exams be re-conducted if revaluation is not possible. The High Court has imposed a deadline of 8 months on TGPSC for revaluation.

Some candidates have approached the High Court to cancel the exams alleging irregularities in the Group-1 evaluation, Candidates selected for jobs have also filed a petition in the court asking for the exams not to be canceled. The court, which has already heard arguments on both petitions, announced the final verdict on tuesday. Lawyers representing the petitioners who filed the petition alleging irregularities in the Group-1 evaluation presented their arguments in the High Court.

They said that the exams were not conducted transparently and there were errors in the evaluation. They said that those who were not qualified had evaluated them. Out of 21 thousand people who had written the exam, only about 5 thousand were re-evaluated on what basis, and irregularities had taken place at every step.

They said that only candidates who had written the exams in some centers were selected. They asked that the exams held against the rules be cancelled. The High Court single bench issued a verdict on Tuesday, cancelling the results of Group 1 Mains. (Maxim News)
