Hyderabad, Sept. 25 (Maxim News): The Congress party has announced its full support for the Telangana RTC Workers Union (TWU) in the upcoming TGSRTC recognised union elections. TPCC president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud said the party would back TWU in the October 9 elections.
Mahesh Kumar Goud said TWU, registered as 4-4522, functions as an affiliated union of the Congress party. He also directed Congress leaders, MLAs, DCC and city Congress presidents to extend full support and coordination to TWU at RTC depots in their respective areas.
He further asked party leaders not to encourage other unions during the election process, according to the party’s announcement.
Bonthu Rammohan Named Election Coordinator
The Congress has also appointed TPCC vice-president and former Greater Hyderabad Mayor Bonthu Rammohan as the coordinator for the RTC union elections.
Mahesh Kumar Goud called on party workers and RTC employees to coordinate under Rammohan’s leadership and work for TWU in the elections.
The TGSRTC recognised union elections are scheduled for October 9. Polling will be held from 5 am to 6 pm, while the results are scheduled to be announced on October 17. The election will determine the majority union that will receive recognition in the RTC.
The elections come after a long gap. The last recognised union elections in the RTC were held in July 2016, according to reports. (Maxim News)
