Three Mandi Restaurants Caught For Poor Hygiene, Cockroach Infestation
Hyderabad, Mar 24 (Maxim News): Cockroach infestation in kitchen, unhygienic refrigeration with spillage of meat waste and blood, among other issues were detected during inspections of Mandi restaurants in the city.
Food inspectors from the Commissioner of Food Safety during inspections at Mandi Town and Mandi King royal in Khairatabad and Mandi 35 Arabian Kitchen, Banjara Hills, detected serious food safety violations in the eateries.
At Mandi Town, live cockroach infestation was detected in the kitchen by food inspectors and the refrigerator was found in very unhygienic condition with spillage of meat waste and blood, flooring was patchy and littered with food waste, kitchen was not equipped with drains to ensure proper cleaning.
Synthetic food colors were detected and later discarded, the drinking water tank was not cleaned properly and dead insects were noticed in it.
The food articles in the refrigerator were uncovered and unlabelled and raw meat like chicken, mutton etc. were found to be dumped in the refrigerator in an unhygienic manner which may cause contamination.
At Mandi 36, Arabian Kitchen, Banjara Hills, the flooring was found to be patchy, kitchen ceiling was dark and sooty, chimneys were greasy, dustry and unclean, exhaust were not fitted with mesh to prevent entry of insects, iron knives were found to be used in the kitchen, grilling pans were dark, greasy and unclean.
The food articles in the refrigerator were covered but unlabelled, vegetables like mint leaves were found in spoiled condition and were later discarded by the inspecting teams. A few food articles were found to be stored on ground and there was no proper gap between the walls and the storage racks.
At mandi King Royale, Khairatabad, the task force team reported that refrigerators were in unhygienic condition, due to no defrost feature, water droplets were falling into uncovered food articles, the kitchen flooring and wash area were patchy and littered with food waste.
The drains were clogged and chimneys were greasy and unclean. The facility was using rusty iron knives. Vegetarian and non-veg articles, raw and semi cooked food were stored together in refrigerators.
