TITA Organizes 24-Hour Hackathon And Sets Up Technology Innovation Centre At KITS
Hyderabad/Warangal, Feb.10 (Maxim News): Telangana Information Technology Association (TITA) as part of its efforts to promote innovation and foster entrepreneurship among students, has organised a 24-hour Hackathon as well as set up the Telangana Innovation and Incubation Centre (TIIC) at KITS, Warangal.
Rajya Sabha member Banda Prakash, who inaugurated the TIIC, asked the students to take advantage of the facility to enhance their employability skills.
Speaking on the occasion, TITA Global President Sundeep Kumar Makthala said the students exhibited team spirit in working on their ideas in the 24-hour Hackathon. Various universities and educational institutions have already set up TIICs as these are aiding students to enhance their employability skills. Makthala said TITA has plans to set up more TIIC and urged colleges to come forward to set up such innovation and Incubation centres. TITA will assist them in setting up TIIC, he said.
About 200 students participated in the Hackathon, which had Smart City as the theme.
They worked on ideas related to medicine, agriculture, traffic and accident management among others. In all, there were 43 ideas and top ten were shortlisted and from these the three have been awarded cash prizes.
Keys IT solutions Chief Executive Officer Jyothi Reddy, who was part of the jury that shortlisted the ideas, inspired the students by talking about her entrepreneurial journey from working for a Rs 5 wage to becoming CEO of an IT company. The top three projects from the Hackathon are Smart mobile data usage app (Gayatri and team), Generation of Electricity through rain water (Manusri and team) and a gadget to filter carbon dioxide from air (Abhinay and team) won cash awards.
On the occasion, T-Works members Nikhil Gundu and sujay held a session for the students, Young CEO Hemang Vellore, TITA members Uma, Soumya, Ilias, Shankar, Ravi, Dharmender, KITS principal T Ashok Reddy, HOD Rama Devi and faculty member Soujanya participated in the event. (Maxim News)
