Top Hyderabad Restaurants Caught for Unhygienic Conditions, Using Expired Food
Hyderabad, March 23 (Maxim News): Three well-known food outlets in Hyderabad have been pulled up by Telangana food safety officials for operating in unhygienic conditions and using expired food products. The violations were discovered during a recent inspection conducted by the authorities.
Hotel Tulips Grand, Hayathnagar
At Hotel Tulips Grand in Hayathnagar, officials found unsanitary conditions in the kitchen and storage areas. The drainage system was inadequate, and the restaurant lacked pest control records.
Additionally, expired food items such as mushrooms, ice cream, poppy seeds, and meat were being used, raising serious concerns about food safety.
Varalakshmi Tiffins, Gachibowli
At Varalakshmi Tiffins in Gachibowli, officials flagged broken flooring, unclean kitchen walls, and clogged drains. The exhaust system was covered in grease, with oil dripping from it, and rats were found outside the kitchen.
Other violations included:
- Uncovered dustbins
- Lack of proper food storage areas
- Absence of a water analysis report and medical fitness certificates
Kshatriya Foods, Madhapur
At Kshatriya Foods in Madhapur, food safety officials found broken tiles, stagnant water, clogged drainage, and greasy chimneys.
The restaurant was also found guilty of:
- Using synthetic food colors
- Storing vegetarian and non-vegetarian food together in unhygienic refrigerators
- Failing to ensure food handlers wore head caps and gloves
- Missing important hygiene and safety records
Authorities have warned all three establishments to improve hygiene standards immediately or face strict action. (Maxim News)
