Chennai: The lockdown has been extended in Tamil Nadu till August 31 as part of efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19, the state government announced on Thursday.

After the AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi opposed the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Ram Mandir bhoomi puja, Telangana BJP leader Krishna Sagar Rao took a dig at Owaisi asking the latter to attend the ceremony in order to show in secular spirit.

Hyderabad: There were 1, 811 new Covid-19 infections and 13 fatalities till Wednesday evening in Telangana, taking the overall toll to 505 and the cumulative number of positive cases in the State to 60,717.

New Delhi: The nationwide Unlock 3 guidelines were on Wednesday issued by the government, opening up more activities outside the containment zones, but schools, colleges, metro rail service, cinema halls along with bars will continue to remain shut till August 31 and political and religious gatherings will also remain prohibited.

Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) is planning to downsize the number of students per class in junior colleges when they reopen for the academic year 2020-21. Only half of the present class strength will be allowed for teaching sessions in classrooms.

Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday extended the bi-weekly partial lockdown till August 31 across the state in a bid to curb the spread of coronavirus that is touching 67,000-mark in West Bengal. She said there would be no lockdown in the state on August 1st on the occasion of Bakrid.
