Hyderabad, May 18: A tractor driver died after the vehicle overturned while allegedly attempting to flee from police on the outskirts of Durshed village in Karimnagar district during the early hours of Monday.
The deceased was identified as Gunnala Harish.
According to police, Harish was reportedly transporting sand illegally from Gollapalli when police personnel noticed the tractor near Durshed village in Karimnagar rural mandal.
Tractor Overturns In Paddy Field
After spotting the police, Harish allegedly switched off the tractor lights and diverted the vehicle towards nearby paddy fields in an attempt to escape.
However, the tractor reportedly hit a stone and overturned.
Police said Harish died on the spot after the vehicle fell on him during the accident.
Local police reached the scene and shifted the body for postmortem examination.
Officials registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
The accident once again highlighted concerns over illegal sand transportation activities in several parts of Telangana.
