Traffic police Ask Online Food Delivery Managements To Discipline Delivery Boys
Hyderabad, June 15 (Maxim News): Additional Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Hyderabad City today convened a meeting with the management officials of online food delivery companies viz., Swiggy, Zomato and Uber eats.
Addressing them at Traffic Police complex, Nampally, Additional Commissioner of Police said in the recent times, the online food delivery has become popular and the public are ordering food through food delivery apps, upon which the delivery staff of app-based companies are delivering the food on two-wheelers at the doorstep of customers. Traffic Police are receiving numerous complaints against traffic violations by the delivery staff viz., Cellphone driving, over-speeding, wrong direction, without helmet, signal jumping, honking and so on, which are risking the lives of the other commuters on the road as well as themselves.
During the meeting, the management of app-based food delivery providers advised to take measures to discourage the delivery boys to indulge in traffic violations and direct them to adopt a uniform mechanism to terminate the associate drivers, who indulge in traffic violations and criminal offences. To verify the antecedents of all drivers to avoid employment of rash persons, coordinate with the Traffic Police of all the three Commissionerates to access the data on violators, to arrange surveillance over the delivery boys operating in the city, to impart training to the delivery boys at traffic training centers before they are enrolled with the companies. The managements from the companies have assured traffic police of initiating action on all the issues to improve traffic safety and security.
