TRS Govt encroaching upon powers of Dalit Sarpanches: Shabbir

Hyderabad, Dec 2 (Maxim News): Former Minister & ex-Leader of Opposition in Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir has accused the TRS Government of encroaching upon the powers of Dalit Sarpanches in the State.

Shabbir Ali was addressing a dharna at Kamareddy District Collectorate on Wednesday which was held to protest against the illegal suspension of a Dalit Sarpanch Raju. He said that the Dalit Sarpanch was suspended at the behest of local MLA who was angry at him for political and personal reasons. He said that the District Collector committed an error by suspending the Sarpanch on no valid grounds.

He informed that the Congress party has already approached the High Court against the illegal suspension of Sarpanch. He said that the Sarpanch was suspended without hearing his version. He asked whether it was illegal to take up development works from the donations than using only government funds. He said that the Sarpanch was targeted only for the reason that he was Dalit and apparently weak. He asked whether District Collector would suspend the local MLA in the same manner.

Shabbir Ali said that the Congress party would extend all support to the suspended Sarpanch and would fight until he gets justice. He alleged that the TRS Government was not giving any importance to the local bodies and suppressing the rights of Sarpanches and Upa-Sarpanches.

The protest, attended by hundreds of Congress activists, was also addressed by TPCC General Secretary Addanki Dayakar, Kamareddy DCC President Kailas Srinivasa Rao, Sarpanch Forum State President Dhanalakshmi, District Sarpanch Forum President Mahender Reddy and other leaders. (Maxim News)
