TRS Maha Dharna to press Centre to clear Rice stocks: Harish, Talasani visit Dharna Chowk

Hyderabad (Maxim News): Finance Minister T Harish Rao and Animal Husbandry Minster T Srinivas Yadav today said that the TRS leaders will participate in Maha Dharna at Indira Park on Thursday (November 18) to demand the Centre clear the rice or paddy stocks from the state.

They visited the dharna site with TRS leaders and inspected the arrangements being made for the protest. Later talking to press persons, Harish Rao said that they will sit in dharna from 11 am to 2 pm and give a representation to Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on the same demand.

TRS boss and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and other Ministers, MPs, MLAs and other TRS leaders will attend the dharna at Indira Park. We intend to mount pressure on the Centre to give clarity and lift rice stocks, the minister said. The Finance Minister alleged that the BJP Government in the Centre is deliberately ignoring our pleas on the paddy grains or rice stocks. This is uncalled for and unbecoming as the Centre cannot ignore its responsibility, he deplored.

The Minster further said that the constitution architect Ambedkar gave responsibility to the Centre to procure all farm stocks from the states. The Centre is adopting dual standards on rice procurement from the state. The TRS has been fighting for the cause of the people and farmers he claimed. Despite the ruling or in the opposition we have been working for people, the finance minster said. The Minister also took serious exception to the BJP led NDA Government for giving mandals to Andhra Pradesh state after bifurcation. This caused about Rs 1000 cr loss to Telangana state due to the attitude of the Central government, he lamented. In the beginning our government led by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao held a protest dharna at the same site against the centre for giving away 7 mandals from Telangana to AP, he said.

The Centre is trying to escape from its responsibility to clear rice or paddy grains and delaying to take steps, he objected.

Though, the TRS on coming to power has been offering all help to the farmers to push for more agricultural production he said.

The Telangana state has been urging the Centre to procure our rice stocks as was done in the case of Punjab, he said. Though the Centre is not listening to our appeals and showing negligence and partisan attitude, he expressed displeasure. He expressed surprise as to why the Central Government is adamant and partisan towards Telangana state. The TRS leaders will attend the Maha Dharna including MPs, MLAs, MLCs, DCCB Chairmen, DCMS Chairmen, Market Committee Chairmen, and others, he said. (Maxim News)
