TRS MPs stage farm protest in Parliament, RS adjourned

Hyderabad, Dec.1 (Maxim News): On third day of the parliament session, the TRS MPs today staged a protest at Rajya Sabha and outside demanding the Centre to procure paddy, rice from Telangana. With the MPs stir the Rajya Sabha was adjourned to next day by chairman M Venkaiah Naidu.

The MPs stormed into well of the podium in the elders house as chairman M Venkaiah Naidu asked them to stop protesting. They showed placards and registered protests by squatting for some time.

The MPs stormed the parliament session against the centre for not coming up a national farm policy, MSP Act and do justice to the state.

They stated to intensify the stir until the BJP government comes to take the stocks and give clarity. The Centre is deliberately delaying the process and should lift Paddy, rice, the TRS leaders said. The centre should give reply on how much quantity of paddy, rice it will procure from the state and follow same procedure without any partiality, they said. Fix yearly target for paddy and rice to be procured besides formulation of an MSP Act for farm produce across the country, the MPs said. Also outside the parliament at Gandhi statue the TRS LS MPs staged protest with same demands.

The TRS MPs led by Nama Nageshwar Rao, Santhosh Kumar, Prakash, Suresh Reddy and others exhibited placards on the farmers row.

The MPs demanded a debate in the session on the farm related issues. The MPs demanded the Centre to give Rs 25 lakh compensation to kin of about 750 deceased farmers. The TRS Government announced Rs 22.50 cr to offer Rs 3 lakhs each of them, they said.

The TRS MPs demanded the Centre should come up with a national farm policy, MSP Act and give clarity. (Maxim News)
