TRS to support Margaret Alva in Vice President elections

The TRS extended it’s support to the Opposition parties’ candidate Margaret Alva in the ensuing polls to the Vice-President’s post. The party President and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao took a decision in this regard, the party secretary general K Keshava Rao said in a release.

Accordingly, all the 16 TRS MPs will cast their vote to Margaret Alva for the Vice President’s post during the polling to be held on Saturday. The party had also supported the Opposition candidate Yeshwant Sinha in the election of the President last month.

Alva met the TRS MPs at the residence of Keshava Rao in New Delhi on Friday to seek their vote and thanked Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao for extending support. She has been fielded by the Opposition against the ruling NDA’s nominee Jagdeep Dhankhar.

Speaking on the occasion, Keshava Rao said the TRS was fighting against the anti-people policies of the Central government, but not the diamond jubilee celebrations of the Indian independence. He said observing the true spirit of the freedom fighters, the party was fighting for national integrity and strengthen the Parliamentary democracy.
