The Court made key comments regarding the tariffs imposed by Trump on several countries on the occasion of America’s ‘Liberation Day’. The Manhattan court commented that the president has the power to impose economic sanctions only in an emergency. This has put the Trump government in a bind.

The US Trade Court has blocked the implementation of US President Donald Trump’s tariffs. In this order, a three-judge panel in the Manhattan court announced the verdict. On this occasion, the court ruled that the President can impose economic sanctions on countries around the world only in emergency situations under the International Emergency Economic powers Act. only congress has the power to regulate international trade. it is not right to impose tariffs with special powers. It said that this would weaken the constitutional institutions.

However, the American commander-in-chief stated that Trump took this action under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). In this contest, the court ruled that this law cannot be used as a tool of economic pressure. At the same time, the Trump government mentioned the issue of ‘india-Pakistan Tensions’, but the court rejected it.

The Trump administration has asked the court to uphold the president’s tariff powers. Officials have argued that the legal challenge would alter the trade deal with China and increase tensions between India and Pakistan. “Trump was able to achieve the recent ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan because of the tariff authority,” the court was told.
