TS legislators mourn CRPF jawans, announces Rs 25 lakh aid

Hyderabad, Feb.22 (Maxim News): Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao today announced an ex-gratia of Rs 25 lakh to the families of each of the victims of the CRPF jawans and officials, who lost their lives in the recent Pulwama terror attack.

The announcement from the Chief Minister came as he introduced in the Assembly a resolution condemning the Pulwama attack. Joining the Chief Minister in expressing deep sympathies and condolences at the loss of precious lives of CRPF jawans in Pulwama were members of all political parties. Paying respects to the Pulwama terror attack victims, Chandrashekhar Rao announced that the State Government will provide Rs 25 lakh to each of the 40 families of CRPF to them as assistance. Moving a resolution, the Chief Minister said the attack in Pulwama was an incident that Indians will never forget. “The attack was not just on our soliders and jawans, but also on every Indian. The country feels it was an attack on the nation. It is an incident that cannot be digested by any of us,” he added.

“You are not alone. The country needs to put down terrorism and the country wants steps to be taken to put an end to such acts. We do not want to just offer lip sympathy, but demonstrate that we care for our jawans. Even as we offer our tributes to the jawans, who lost their lives, the government has decided to give Rs 25 lakh as ex-gratia to each of the families of jawans who lost their lives in the February 14 attack at Pulwama,“ the Chief Minister said, adding that people should remain united in countering terrorism. The House expresses its deep sympathies to the families of the bereaved.

Leader of the Opposition Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said his party fully supported the views of the government on the Pulwama attack. The efforts of the terrorists was to divide the country, he added. Ahmed Bin Balala of the AIMIM accused Pakistan and Jaish-e-Mohammad and its leader Masood Azhar of trying to divide the country through terror attacks. BJP’s Raja Sigh briefly supported the resolution and roundly condemned the Pulwama attack. Later, the House observed a two-minutes silence as a mark of respect to the deceased CRPF jawans.

In the Legislative Council, Medical & Health Minister Eatala Rajender led the House in paying respects to the CRPF jawans with the House passing a unanimous resolution condemning the attack and expressing deep sympathies and condolences to the families of the jawans, who lost their lives in the attack.
