TSDCA Seizes Fake ‘Levipil 500’ Tablet In Hyderabad
Hyderabad, Jan 14 (Maxim News): Telangana Drugs Control Administration (TGDCA) seized spurious drug (counterfeit version) ‘Levipil 500’ Tablets (Levetiracetam Tablets 500 mg) that falsely claimed to be manufactured by Sun Pharma Laboratories Ltd.
Based on intelligence gathered by TGDCA officials, raids were conducted at several dealers leading to the detection of the counterfeit version of Levipil 500 Tablets which are prescribed as an anti-epileptic medicine, a press release said.
These counterfeit stocks were detected at Durga Medical and General Stores, Sudharsan Reddy Nagar, Chintal, Quthbullapur , Medchal-Malkajgiri and the seized tablets falsely claimed to be manufactured by Sun Pharma Laboratories Limited, Kamrup district, Assam.
Spurious drugs pose a significant threat to public health, endangering patients’ well-being. These drugs not only fail to treat the intended disease but also can lead to health complications over time and efforts are on to ensure the removal of spurious drugs from the market, DG, TGDCA, Shahnawaz Qasim said.
General public can report complaints regarding illegal activities related to medicines, suspected manufacturing activities concerning drugs, including narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, through the TGDCA Toll-Free Number 1800-599-6969, operational from 10.30 am to 5 pm on all working days.
