Two Earthquakes In 12 Minutes: Second Recorded As 8.7 On Richter Scale

On Friday (march 28), at 12.50 pm, a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck. Another earthquake struck 12 minutes later at 1.02 am. The second earthquake was recorded as 8.7 on the Richter scale. The German Research Center for Geosciences revealed that this earthquake occurred at a depth of 6q1 km (38 miles). While the first earthquake shook Myanmar, the second earthquake was even more powerful.
Earthquakes have shaken several cities in Myanmar, including Sazgaing, Mandalay, Kyouktaw, Pyin Oo Lwin, and Shwe Bo. The earthquake caused cracks in some areas. In others, large buildings and bridges were leveled to the ground. Tall buildings in Myanmar collapsed like decks of cards due to the earthquake. The historic Mandalay Palace in Mandalay was severely damaged by the earthquake. A bridge in Sagaing Township in Sagaing Region collapsed completely.
