Two Held For Diverting PDS Rice In Hyderabad

The LB Nagar SOT police caught two persons for illegal procurement of Public Distribution System (PDS) rice at Santoshi Matha Rice Mill in Maheshwaram here on Tuesday.

Officials seized 150 bags of PDS rice, weighing approximately 7.5 tonnes and an auto-trolley from them.

The arrested persons were S Raju (40), a rice mill owner from Gattupally village of Maheshwaram and B Lingya Naik (30), an auto driver from Singareni Colony of Champapet. Raju procured the PDS rice from beneficiaries in Hyderabad and sold them at higher rates to other customers.

The duo along with the seized material was handed over to the Maheshwaram police for further action.
