Two Omicron cases in city, virus speed, mild, wear masks: DH Srinivas Rao
Hyderabad, Dec.15 (Maxim News): Telangana sees two Omicron cases in the city and the state government is on high alert. The government found two Omicron cases after CCMB confirming two cases as positive after genome sequencing, Health Director Srinivas Rao has said. He told media persons here that the two persons who came from Kenya and Somalia at Shamshabad International Airport were tested positive for Corona. Later on sending their samples to CCMB they are Omicron now, he said. One at Tolichowki and another at a nearby area were found and sent to TIMS in Gachibowli for health treatment. The health officials are on the job to find others if moved.
The director said that the two patients were immediately shifted to TIMS for testing and quarantine. In addition to that the samples were taken from those others who were closely associated with the two Omicron variant infected people from Somalia and Kenya. One youth came from Somalia for treatment of his father. He was found at Paramount colony in the city and tested positive, the director said. They visited a few hospitals in the city and their samples were sent for genome sequencing, he said.
The director said that the officials are trying to find details of others who moved closely with them. Another boy of 7 years old, who tested positive for omicron, came to Shamshabad Airport and left for West Bengal without entering into the city. There is no fear as he left for West Bengal from Shamshabad airport, the health official said.
There is no need for panic or fear among people who should wear masks and follow corona protocols, he said.
Srinivas Rao said that two cases of Omicron were found at Mehdipatnam and Toli Chowki areas in the city.
Stating that there is no truth in the news that one person with Omicron positive ran away from a hospital he said that they are conducting more tests on people coming from non risk nations to the city. Though the Omicron variant spreads speedily it is found to be mild and no need of fear, he said. The people have to take vaccines, wear masks and follow protocols. The government is ready with medical facilities to tackle any situation, he said.
The Health Director repeatedly appealed to the people to be more cautious on Omicron as it spreads fast though has less intensity. He said that the Omicron virus is in the air and the people should wear masks, sanitise hands and maintain social distance to keep at bay Omicron virus or any other health issues.
He said that 4.19 crore doses were given to people and 97 percent people have been covered with the first dose. Though the people should wear masks and follow protocols, he urged. (Maxim News)
