Under Reorganization Act: Railway Coach Factory To Telangana, Vizag Railway Zone To AP
Delhi/Hyderabad, July 31 (Maxim News): The Railway Ministry has responded to a Right to Information query. It has been almost a decade since AP and Telangana were separated into two states. The Railways has explained what the two states got in this process.
As part of the implementation of the AP Reorganization Act, the Railway Ministry has revealed that it is setting up a railway zone in Visakhapatnam. In the same vein, it has been decided to develop a railway coach factory in Kazipet, Telangana. In addition, it has been announced that railway stations will be built to connect the AP capital, Amaravat,i with other places. The Railway Ministry has revealed that the work on developing these infrastructure facilities has started.
Providing details, Railway Board Joint Director Sunit Prabhat clarified that items 8, 10 and 11 of Schedule 13 of the Act relating to infrastructure are related to the ministry and that the implementation of these projects is currently at various stages.
Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone for the establishment of the new South Coast Railway Zone under Schedule 8 on January 8. Tenders have also been invited for the construction of buildings.
Indian Railways has planned to develop a train manufacturing unit at Kazipet, Telangana, capable of manufacturing and maintaining various types of modern railway stocks under Schedule 10. The project has already been sanctioned and handed over to Rail vikas Nigam Limited.
Under the 11th item of the schedule, it has been decided to provide direct rail connectivity to the new capital of AP, amaravathi, as part of this, a new line of 56.53 km, errupalem-Namburu via Amaravati, has been sanctioned. (Maxim News)
