Unions Condemn Killing Of Scribe At Thondangi In AP
Hyderabad, Oct.16 (Maxim News): M.A. Majid, Senior Leader, Indian Journalists Union (IJU) and Member, Press Council of India (PCI) and Y. Narender Reddy, Secretary, IJU, Nagunuri Sekhar, President and K Virahat Ali, General Secretary of Telangana State Union of Working Journalists (TUWJ) severely condemned the brutal killing of K. Satyanarayana, Reporter for Andhra Jyothi, Telugu Daily at Tondangi in East Godavari District. Unidentified assailants waylaid the scribe on the evening of 15 October, 2019 near his home and hacked him. Satyanarayana died instantaneously.
In Statements issued today the leaders said Satyanarayana, was a fearlessreporter and wrote many news stories exposing the misdeeds of some powerful persons. Earlier also there was an attempt on his life and he filed a complaint with the police on 10th September. But police failed to act on his complaint.
The union leaders said the inaction of police was reprehensible and demanded action against the erring police officials. They further demanded immediate action from police to nab the killers and also those persons who conspired to silence the journalist.
They demanded the Government to extend immediate financial aid to the bereaved family.(Maxim News)
