United Muslim Forum Demands Action on Hyderabad Murders
Hyderabad, Dec. 18 (Maxim News): United Muslim Forum leaders welcomed the decision of the Wakf Tribunal to grant a three month extension for registering Waqf properties on the Ummeed Portal.
The Forum appealed to all Waqf institutions and stakeholders to use the extended deadline to complete online registration of every eligible property.
The Forum also stated that voluntary guidance and free online support can be arranged to assist Waqf managers in completing the process within time.
Forum office bearers, including president Maulana Mufti Syed Sadiq Mohiuddin Faheem and several senior scholars and community representatives, issued a joint statement in Hyderabad.
They appreciated the efforts of various organisations and individuals who have already worked for registration of Waqf properties on the Ummeed Portal.
The leaders stressed that accurate documentation will help protect community assets and reduce disputes over Waqf properties.
The Forum expressed concern over the way special intensive revision of electoral rolls has reportedly affected Muslims and other marginalised groups in some states.
It said reports from Bihar, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and other regions indicate large-scale deletion of voters, including a significant number of Muslims.
The statement noted that such deletions have serious implications for democratic participation and representation.
Therefore, the United Muslim Forum appealed to people in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, particularly voters in Hyderabad, to remain vigilant during the revision process.
It suggested appointment of voter volunteers at every polling booth to help citizens check their names and prepare documents in time.
According to the Forum, the method of revision resembles steps towards implementing a national citizenship register, so community organisations and concerned citizens should proactively guide voters.
Rising murders and social issues
The Forum strongly reacted to the increasing number of murder cases reported in Hyderabad in recent months.
It said the trend highlights the need for public awareness regarding peaceful dispute resolution and the importance of building a lawful and disciplined society. The leaders proposed that those found guilty of such crimes face strong legal action and social boycott to discourage violence. They also criticised growing extravagance in marriages and related ceremonies across the city and districts.
The Forum pointed out that excessive spending, display of weapons and dance or music shows at weddings reflect moral decline and social imbalance. It urged families to adopt simplicity in marriages and to avoid practices that promote gun culture or encourage competition in lavish spending.
