Upset Over Kamareddy Master Plan: Farmers Tried To Commit Suicide

Kamareddy/Hyderabad, Jan 18 (Maxim News): An upset farmer tried to commit suicide due to the decline in the value of his land due to the Kamareddy Urban Master Plan. Marripalli Balakrishna (43) of the merged village of Rameswarpally drank grass medicine yesterday late.

The family members immediately took him to the Kamareddy district Hospital, and later he was taken to a private hospital in Yellareddypet, Sircilla district for better treatment. Balakrishna’s family members said that after their cropland was proposed in the recreation zone, the prices fell drastically. It may be recalled that Payyavula Ramulu of Adlur Ellareddy, Kamareddy district committed suicide in the past.

On the other hand, farmers gathered in old Rajampet. The councilors of the merged villages have demanded to cancel the master plan, failing which they would resign from their positions before the 19th of this month and stand in support of their movement. On this occasion, two councilors from BJP submitted their resignation papers. The farmer’s representatives said that if the resolution to cancel the master plan is not passed in the Municipal Council, they will besiege the house of Government Whip Gampa Govardhan on January 20

The farmers of Ambaripet village of Jagitial Mandal met and demanded to cancel the Jagtial master plan. Protested by climbing the Gram Panchayat office. Together with the farmers of Hasnabad and Upparpet villages, they reached Jagtial and held a Rasta Roko at the new bus stand. Later, they went to the Collectorate in a rally and held a dharna for about two hours. They demanded that their villages be excluded from the master plan. Sarpanch Gangadhar Goud, Laxman Rao, MPTC member Mallareddy, and Congress and BJP leaders participated. (Maxim News)
