Uri Infiltration Bid Foiled, One Terrorist Killed

Hyderabad: The Uri Infiltration Bid was foiled by alert Army troops on Sunday along the Line of Control in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district. During the operation, security forces killed one terrorist who attempted to cross the border.

According to officials, the operation followed a specific intelligence input. The Srinagar headquartered Chinar Corps of the Army shared details on X about the action taken by the troops. The Army said, “Based on a specific intelligence input provided by #JKP regarding an infiltration attempt, a joint operation was launched on intervening night of 14-15 Mar 26 in Gen area Buchhar, Uri sector.”

During the operation, troops noticed suspicious movement in a wooded area. Security personnel then adjusted their ambush position and challenged the suspect. The Army explained the encounter in a statement. It said, “Alert troops spotted suspicious movement of a terrorist in the thicket. The ambush was readjusted and the terrorist was challenged resulting in terrorist opening indiscriminate fire. In the Contact a Pak terrorist was eliminated,” the Army further said.

Army foils Uri infiltration bid after intelligence input

The Uri Infiltration Bid involved a coordinated operation by security forces. According to the Army, troops recovered warlike stores after the encounter. These included an AK rifle, pistols, and a large quantity of ammunition.

Meanwhile, officials confirmed that the anti infiltration operation continued in the area. Security forces remained on alert to ensure no further breach attempt occurred. Authorities said more details about the operation were awaited.

LoC security tightened after repeated infiltration attempts

Earlier this month, another infiltration attempt took place along the Line of Control. On March 10, security forces gunned down one terrorist while he tried to cross the LoC in the Nowshera sector of Rajouri district.

The Army earlier said troops detected the movement of two terrorists in the general area of Jhangar in Nowshera along the LoC. Alert soldiers then responded with swift and calibrated combat action. This response led to an exchange of fire with the infiltrators.

During the engagement, security forces eliminated one Pakistan sponsored terrorist. As a result, the troops prevented a breach of the LoC.

The Indian Army maintains a strong presence along the 740 kilometre long Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. The LoC passes through Baramulla, Bandipora, and Kupwara districts in the Valley. It also runs through Poonch, Rajouri, and parts of Jammu district in the Jammu division.

In addition, the region has a 240 kilometre long international border. This border runs through Samba, Kathua, and Jammu districts. The Border Security Force is deployed there to guard the frontier.
