Venkaiah Hails Re 1 Scheme For Final Rites In Karimnagar

Hyderabad, May 21 (Maxim News): Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu appreciated Re 1 scheme to perform final rites after death of a personer, irrespective of caste and financial position in Karimnagar Municipality.

On coming to know about this rare scheme in Telangana, Venkaiah Naidu appreciated the idea. It is good to hear that Karimnagar civic body is going to take up responsibility to perform final rites by spending Re 1 as it will not burden the deceased’s family members.

The Vice President had a brief talk with former minister KT Rama Rao on the issue and appreciated the idea. KT Rama Rao also felt that the civic body idea will surely help all. He urged the municipalities in the State to study the feasibility to replicate the same in all civic bodies. Upon this, MA&UD Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar said he would consider and study whether the similar scheme can be implemented in other municipalities. “KTR has made an appeal in this regard and we will study to take a call”, he said.

At Karimnagar civic body, Mayor Ravinder Singh said they have taken a decision in this regard. The civic body will collect Re 1 and perform final rites after death was reported. For the purpose, the civic body has allotted Rs 1.50 crore to purchase equipment, vehicles and materials required and the program would be started from June 15, he added. (Maxim News)
