Veteran actor Jagdeep, whose original name was Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed Jafri, died in Mumbai at 81. The former comedian was known for playing the character of Soorma Bhopali in the movie Sholay.
Jagdeep began his career as a child artist in film Afsana, directed by BR Chopra in 1951. Ab Dilli Door Nahin, Munna, Aar Paar, and Do Bigha Zamin are some of the movies in which he played a child actor’s role.
Jagdeep had worked in more than 350 films. Reports suggest the senior actor was not keeping well and passed away on Wednesday at 8.30 pm at Bandra’s residence. The veteran actor is survived by two sons Javed Jaffrey and Naved Jaffrey.
