Mysuru, July 11: Veteran playback singer S Janaki died in a private hospital in Mysuru on Saturday, July 11, due to age related ailments.
Sources said she developed breathing issues late on Friday and was admitted to the hospital. She was 88. Her career spanned six decades, and she recorded over 48,000 songs.
She sang predominantly in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. She also recorded in about 20 Indian languages, including Hindi, Odia, Tulu, Urdu, Punjabi and Bengali. She sang for films, albums, television and radio across the country.
