Vidya Balan walks out of Kamala Das biopic

For the last few months, Vidya Balan had been prepping for her first Malayali film, ‘Aami’, based on controversial writer Kamala Das. However, we hear Vidya has walked out of the project, citing creative differences with the makers.

The film’s director, Kamal, has been in the midst of controversies (national anthem row in Kerala) and Vids apparently wasn’t in favour of working with him. Kamal had earlier attributed Vidya’s lack of prep for delay in starting the film.

A source close to Vidya says, “She respects the director and the entire film team. However, Kamal and she weren’t on the same page. So, she opted out of it in an amicable and professional way.”

Buzz, however, suggests the actress walked out following disagreement with the creative team over a few scenes. The actress’ spokesperson confirmed her exit from the film while denying reports of animosity between both parties.
