Jogulamba Gadwal/Hyderabad, Oct 17 (Maxim News): Vigilance officials continued inspections at rice mills in Telangana’s Jogulamba Gadwal district on Saturday over alleged irregularities in custom milling rice (CMR) stocks and deliveries.
The inspections are part of an ongoing operation across the erstwhile Mahabubnagar district. Officials are reportedly examining allegations that paddy stocks supplied for custom milling, worth crores of rupees, may be missing.
Authorities are checking grain stocks, mill records and quantities of rice that millers must deliver to the government. The inspections aim to identify possible discrepancies between recorded stocks and the quantities available at the mills.
Gadwal Rice Mill Inspections Focus on CMR Stocks
The latest inspections have created concern among rice mill operators in the district. Reports also suggest that some mill owners were unavailable during the raids, although this information has not been officially confirmed.
Custom milling rice is produced when millers process paddy supplied through government procurement arrangements and return the agreed quantity of rice to the government.
Any mismatch between the paddy received, rice produced and rice delivered requires verification through stock records and physical inspections.
Officials are yet to disclose the full findings of the inspections. The extent of any stock discrepancies, the identities of those responsible, if any, and possible action remain unclear.
Further details are expected after the authorities complete their checks and establish the facts. No conclusion about wrongdoing by any particular mill or owner can be drawn from the ongoing inspections alone.
