Viksit Bharat Needs Self Reliance: Prof Arora

  • Viksit Bharat vision highlighted at MANUU national seminar
  • Self-reliance and public administration take centre stage

Hyderabad: Prof. Ramesh K. Arora said that self-reliance is central to national progress and self-respect, and stressed that the vision of Viksit Bharat depends on it. He spoke during the inauguration of a two-day National Seminar titled “Social Policies and Public Administration in India: Vision 2047.” The Department of Public Administration at Maulana Azad National Urdu University organised the seminar.

In his address, Prof. Arora argued that “Self-reliance is the key to self-respect and the vision of Viksit Bharat can only be achieved if we make ourselves self-reliant.” He linked this idea to effective public administration. He also referred to the ideas of India’s first Education Minister, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, on self-respect and self-reliance. Meanwhile, he underlined the need for an administrative plan for every social policy. He said that without a viable administrative plan, social policies are destined to fail. He added that India makes some of the best policies but fails in implementation due to the absence of such plans.

Smt. Kondru Pushpaleela, former Minister of Social Welfare of Andhra Pradesh, attended the event as the Chief Guest. Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice Chancellor of MANUU, presided over the inaugural session. Later, Prof. Hasan said, “MANUU is working towards the Vision 2047 with special emphasis on the development of students from marginalised section of society who speak Urdu or have Urdu as their medium of instruction.” He linked the university’s efforts with the broader national vision.

Meanwhile, Smt. Kondru Pushpaleela called for strong coordination among politicians, bureaucrats, academicians, practitioners, and theorists to ensure that social policies succeed. She said cooperation across these groups remains vital for meaningful outcomes. Therefore, she stressed collective responsibility in policy execution.

Prof. P. H. Mohammad, Dean of the School of Arts and Social Sciences, emphasised taking public administration to the last person in society. Prof. Syed Najiullah, Convenor of the seminar and Head of the Department, briefed the gathering about the seminar. Later, the Vice Chancellor released a special issue of the Bihar Journal of Public Administration and the annual Public Administration Newsletter PAN. Dr. Ahmed Raza delivered the vote of thanks, while Dr. Jeevan Kumar C coordinated the session.
