Waqf Board CEO Post Vacant for 25 Days, Operations Paralyzed
Waqf Board | Hyderabad, Sept 3 (Maxim News) : The Telangana State Wakf Board has been operating in a state of virtual paralysis for the past 25 days due to the absence of a Chief Executive Officer (CEO), presenting a desserted look.
The delay stems from an oral direction of a two-judge bench of the High Court to the Advocate General, instructing the government not to appoint a new CEO until further orders.
With no CEO in place, key decisions and day-to-day operations have come to a grinding halt, triggering a series of issues across the board.
During this period, the historic Moin Manzil building was demolished, and reports suggest that land mafias have encroached on Waqf properties, including a graveyard in Balapur and land in Guttala Begumpet. Shockingly, no police complaint has been lodged yet regarding the Balapur graveyard encroachment.
The absence of leadership has also stalled critical tenders related to dargahs, resulting in what officials estimate as losses amounting to crores of rupees.

Allegations have surfaced that in Janpahad Dargah, private individuals have allegedly issued unauthorized oral tenders to non-Muslims on a weekly basis.
The vacuum in the top post has also impacted essential functions, including the timely disbursement of honorarium to Imams and Muezzins, as the certificate verification is not yet completed and the submission date has been extended till September 30.
Additionally, instructions to lawyers on ongoing and fresh court cases have reportedly come to a standstill, creating further legal complications.
Meanwhile, sources allege that Waqf Board Chairman Syed Azmathullah Hussaini has been arriving late to the office and staying till late hours.
He is said to have called for an informal meeting with board members recently, but only a few turned up, reflecting internal discord.
Despite the gravity of the situation, the High Court’s directive on the CEO appointment remains pending for the past 20 days, leaving the board in a prolonged state of uncertainty. (Maxim News)
