Waqf Board: Chairman And CEO Sitting On Corruption Inquiry
Hyderabad, Jan. 19 (Maxim News): The Telangana government has ordered an inquiry into alleged corruption in the Telangana State Waqf Board, following complaints against its former Chief Executive Officer and associates.
The Waqf Board corruption inquiry was initiated through an official memorandum issued by the Minorities Welfare Department dated 10.05.2024.
According to the order, the inquiry relates to allegations submitted by Mohammed Ismail of Shaheen Nagar, Hyderabad.
He accused the then CEO Khaja Moinuddin and several associates of corruption during their tenure. As a result, the government decided to act on the complaint.
Waqf Board Corruption Inquiry Committee Formed
To examine the allegations, the government constituted a three member committee.
The panel includes Deputy Secretary K P Lakshmi Narasamma, Assistant Secretary Shaikh Liyaqat Hussain, and Joint Director MW. Mohd Khasim, later on Deputy Secretary K P Lakshmi Narasamma, and Joint Director Mohd Khasim retired.
In the circumstances, it is learned that the one man committee was formed with Mr. Mohammad Asadullah as the enquiry officer.
The one man committee will conduct a detailed inquiry into the allegations against the former CEO and others, but the sources said that the files are with the present chairman.

The order was issued by Tafseer Iqubal, the then Special Secretary to the Government, Minorities Welfare Department, who is also the present Joint Commissioner of Police Law and Order, Hyderabad City.
The committee has been asked to submit a detailed report with recommendations.
Meanwhile, the High Court has not been linked to this inquiry, and officials said further action will depend on the committee’s findings. (Maxim News)
