He is reportedly drawing a salary exceeding ₹50,000 per month. Critics have questioned the basis for his reappointment, citing rules and eligibility criteria, while highlighting the ongoing exclusion of long-serving contract employees from permanent appointments.

Waqf Board | Job Calendar in Minority Department

The controversy was recently highlighted in a review meeting between Haj Committee Chairman Syed Ghulam Afzal Biabani Khusro Pasha and Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar, where the need for a job calendar in the Minority Department was discussed.

Stakeholders emphasized the importance of prioritizing youth employment over reappointing retired officers.

Since taking office, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has focused on removing political appointees and advisors from the previous BRS government.

Alongside this, the state administration has directed departments to phase out retired officers serving in reappointed, contractual, or outsourced roles without valid justification.

Observers note that the reappointment of K.A. Wahid Khan seems to contradict this policy direction, triggering calls for an official enquiry.

The Waqf Board’s decision has intensified debates on fairness, transparency, and the need to address long-standing vacancies for qualified youth. While the government emphasizes merit-based appointments, the inclusion of retired officers in key positions continues to attract public attention and criticism.
