Waqf Records Still Behind Locked Doors: Will Revanth Sarkar Deliver on its Promise of Transparency!?

Waqf Records | Hyderabad, July 31: The much-celebrated public government led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy stormed into power on the promise of transparency, accountability, and reform.

One of its flagship moves, the launch of the Bhu Bharati portal, inspired new hope among citizens by aiming to digitize and streamline land records across Telangana.

But amid this digital push, a critical concern remains unaddressed: the record room of the Telangana State Waqf Board remains locked, inaccessible, and shrouded in mystery.

The continued sealing of these vital documents has left the community deeply worried about the fate of thousands of acres of Waqf land, which remain outside the digital lens of Bhu Bharati.

This has raised a haunting question, will Waqf lands ever be brought under the umbrella of land record reform, or will they be left in bureaucratic limbo!?

While the silence is deafening, there’s a glimmer of hope. The current CEO of the Waqf Board, Mohd Asadullah, is not only a seasoned bureaucrat but also a highly respected revenue official with deep expertise in land administration.

Community voices are growing louder, urging the government to empower Asadullah to take charge and ensure Waqf lands are recorded, digitized, and protected, just like private and government lands under Bhu Bharati.

Prominent religious leader have also raised their voices. Moulana Abul Fateh Syed Bandagi Badshah Quadri, a respected community member, have emphasized the urgency of unlocking the Waqf records and incorporating them into the digitization drive.

“You cannot promise reform and leave a major institution like the Waqf Board in the shadows. We expect justice, transparency, and action,” said Moulana Bandagi Badshah Qadri.

Mr. Quadri emphasized the need to reconcile revenue records with that of Waqf records during the Dharani portal process. He also highlighted all the bonafide clerical errors in the revenue needs rectification before implementation of any new revenue system in revenue reforms to avoid multiple litigation.

As the public waits, a critical test of the government’s integrity is unfolding. Will CM Revanth Reddy’s administration live up to its word, or will these sacred lands continue to be trapped in silence behind iron doors!?

Time is ticking. The community is watching, Mr. Quadri added.
