Warangal boy shot dead in California for money
Hyderabad: While the US President Donald Trump was bent upon closing door to job-seekers from other countries and seriously planning to send away non-American employees, a youth from Warangal was gunned down by some unidentified Black Americans in California on Thursday. However, the police reported death of Vamsichand Reddy Mamidala on Saturday night after his friends complained that he was missing for the last three days.
Vamsichand Reddy belongs to Vangapahad village under Hasanparthi mandal of Warangal Urban District. On receipt of tragic news from the US, his parents fell down unconscious and an eerie silence enveloped the Vangapahad. Vamsichand Reddy completed B.Tech in Vatsalya Engineering college in Bhongir and proceeded to the US in September 2015 to study MS in California University. He completed his masters’ from a Silicon Valley University and was doing a part-time job.
On Thursday night, he was reportedly shot dead by Blacks. The killers, intoxicated with drugs stopped Vamsi’s car and one of the culprits shot the Telugu boy dead in point blank range and fled with the car. The killer also took out his victim’s wallet and fled with money. The body of Vamsi was found inside the car.
Vamsi’s sister living in Hyderabad was informed of the death by the local police. Shocked by the tragic news, Vamsi’s family urged the State government to help bring the body back. IT Minister K Taraka Ramarao, who is also incharge of overseas affairs, spoke to the people concerned in California and making efforts to bring back the body. However, in view of the sensitivity of the incident, the police have not declared it as a death, and are investigating it as a ‘missing case’.
Meanwhile, another migrant was reportedly attacked by Americans at the spot where Vamsichand Reddy was gunned down.
