WATCH: Godavari In A State Of Fury: Flow Over 50 Feet At Bhadrachalam
Bhadrachalam/Hyderabad, Aug 21 (Maxim News): Godavari is raging due to heavy rains in the upper reaches. Authorities issued a second warning on Wednesday as the river is flowing heavily near Bhadrachalam. The water level of Godavari was 48 feet at 10 pm and was flowing at 50.8 feet on Thursday morning. Flood water has reached the main roads, disrupting traffic in villages in several mandals.
Flood water has reached the Kalyana katta area at bhadrachalam. Many steps and electric poles in the bathing area have been submerged. The authorities have closed the sluices on the Godavari embankment to prevent Godavari water from entering the town.
As the sewage water is not flowing out of the town, the authorities are installing motors to pump out the water. Officials say that the water level is likely to rise further due to the flood water coming from the upper areas.
On the other hand, an inflow of 9.88 lakh cusecs was recorded at Dhavaleswaram and the same amount is being released downstream. The first danger warning is ongoing at the project.
The water level at the dam has been recorded at 11.9 feet. Disaster management Agency MD Prakhar jain advised the people of Aluri Seetharama Raju. East Godavari, kakinada, Eluru and West Godavari districts to be alert. people in the river basin area should take appropriate precautions. (Maxim News)
