Watch: Virat Kohli’s Bullet Throw Spells Doom For Cameron Green In 2nd T20I vs Australia
Virat Kohli made his presence felt for the Indian team in the second T20I of the three-match series against Australia in Nagpur on Friday (September 23), as early as in the second over of the game itself, when his sharp throw ended Australian opening batter Cameron Green’s stay at the crease.
Green, who was Australia’s top run-getter in the first T20I, which was played in Mohali on Tuesday (September 20), tried to take a quick single but before he could reach the crease, Virat’s flat throw dislodged the bails and cut short his stay.
The 23-year-old right-handed batter, who won the Player of the Match award in the series opener with his stroke-filled 61 off 30 balls (8 fours, 4 sixes), was only able to make five runs from four balls in the second match.
By sending Green back to the pavilion in Nagpur on the third ball of the second over of the rain-hit match, Virat redeemed himself as on the first ball of Axar Patel’s over he dropped Green’s catch near the boundary ropes. Even though it was a very difficult chance, Virat was able to handle the ball initially, but let it go in the later stages.
It was a reprieve for Green, but he failed to make the most of it and Kohli made sure that he didn’t do much damage and took the game away from the Indian team with his wide range of shots.
As far as Virat’s performance with the bat is concerned in the second T20I, then the former Indian skipper was not able to do much with the bat and only managed to score 11 runs from six balls. He scored two boundaries down the ground but was sent back to the pavilion by his former Royal Challengers Bangalore teammate Adam Zampa, who clean bowled him on the second delivery of the fifth over.
