AJUP chief Humayun Kabir went to a polling booth in Shivnagar village after casting his vote. At that time, TMC supporters present there stopped him. They shouted slogans like ‘Go back’. He was branded a “BJP agent” and an argument broke out between the two groups. Kabir was then made to sit there. He accused TMC workers of intimidating voters and engaging in irregularities in the elections. He also criticized TMC for bribing their party candidates to withdraw from the contest. This led to a clash between the two groups. They attacked him with stones, bricks and sticks.

Heavy security forces have been deployed in Navodaya constituency. The Election Commission has directed the officials to submit a comprehensive report on the clash between the two parties. The first phase of polling in 152 constituencies of West Bengal is proceeding peacefully except for a few incidents. The clash in Navodaya is causing a stir. The second phase of polling will be held on April 29, while the counting of votes will be held on May 4. (Maxim News)
