Why AIMIM Abstained from BRS Launch?
AIMIM | Hyderabad, Dec 11 (Maxim News): The doubt among the people, particularly among the Muslim Community who are the strong supporters of All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and its Chief and Hyderabad MP (Lok Sabha) Asaduddin Owaisi as to why they remained absent from the launching ceremony of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) headed by the Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao, on December 9, at Telangana Bhavan.
It may be recalled that, after the formation of Telangana state, the AIMIM party has become close to the ruling TRS, now BRS, of KCR and even they had friendly contest in 2018 general elections.
While the AIMIM was extending all support to KCR, latter was also friendly with the BJP as well. After that he has severed ties with BJP, as the AIMIM feels that the BJP is its main enemy in the politics whose decisions are always against the Muslim Community.
AIMIM
It is surprising to note that there was no representation from AIMIM when KCR changed the name of TRS to BRS and proposed that BRS would be national party and it will contest its first election in Karnataka Assembly elections, likely to be held in the month of May 2023.
The JD(S) leader Kumaraswamy was present in the ceremony and has revealed that he will be contesting the elections in Karnataka in alliance with BRS.
According to the political leaders, AIMIM which is very strong in 7 Assembly constituencies in Telangana, is now planning to increase its presence by wining 3 to 5 seats more in the districts like Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Ranga Reddy, Khammam, Nalgonda, etc.
The AIMIM party may be planning to contest in about 20 to 25 seats where the population of Muslim Community is more than 20 per cent, and it has chances of winning and playing the important role in the formation of next Assembly.
Obviously, the AIMIM will try to unite all secular forces against BJP, including bringing understanding between the BRS and Congress in the state, in case there is hung Assembly.
Another point is that, the AIMIM has already contested elections outside Telangana. It has got one MP in the state of Maharashtra, and in 5 MLAs in Bihar.
The party has actively participated in the assembly elections of West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, and in the recently held Gujarat elections.
Hence, there is a possibility of AIMIM going alone outside Telangana to show its presence as the National Party, the leaders opined. (Maxim News)
