Locals said that the wild animal killed sheep belonging to Dandiga Bapu, Binkar Shankar, and Ramagiri Shankar by attacking the herd at around 2 am.  They suspected that it might be a tiger that killed the sheep. They requested officials of the Forest department to inspect the spot and to identify the wild animal.

However, forest officials said that either wild dogs or stray dogs might have killed the sheep by observing the pugmarks of the wild animal.  They said that the wild animal that attacked the herd was not a tiger.  They reasoned that tigers tend to consume the flesh of cattle rather than sheep.
