According to Lake Police, the deceased were identified as 28-year-old Keerthika Agarwal, a chartered accountant, and her two-year-old daughter, Biyara. Keerthika was married to Prithvilal, a businessman from the Old City area. Investigators said the couple had been facing marital problems, which led Keerthika to move to her parents’ home in Bahadurpura with her daughter nearly a year and a half ago.

On November 2, Keerthika reportedly jumped into Hussain Sagar Lake along with her child. The next day, locals near Neera Café on Necklace Road noticed her body floating in the water and immediately alerted the police. Authorities retrieved the body and shifted it to a nearby mortuary for post-mortem examination. At that time, police were unable to identify the victim and began an investigation into the case.

Meanwhile, Keerthika’s parents filed a missing-person complaint at the local station after failing to contact their daughter. During verification, they identified the body as Keerthika’s. Following this identification, police launched a search operation in the lake and recovered the child’s body on Tuesday. Officers suspect that it was a case of suicide linked to family disputes and emotional distress.

Police have registered a case and begun a detailed investigation. Officials said the family has been informed, and further inquiry will determine any additional factors that may have contributed to the deaths. The tragic incident has once again highlighted growing concerns around domestic issues and mental health support for women in distress.
