Work Hard To Bring Congress Back To Power: DCC Chiefs

Hyderabad, Sept.22 (Maxim News): The District Congress Committee (DCC) Presidents of Telangana Congress expressed their resolve to work hard to bring the Congress party back to power in next Assembly elections in 2023.

Participating in the video-conference through Zoom application, all the DCC Presidents assured new AICC Incharge Manickam Tagore that they would strive hard to retain the lost glory of Congress party in Telangana under the leadership of TPCC President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy.

Speaking on the occasion, Uttam Kumar Reddy praised the great work done by all DCC Presidents during the lockdown period due to Covid-19 He said Telangana unit has been rated top among all PCCs in providing required help and assistance to migrant workers during the lockdown. He said the DCCs have displayed huge commitment in following the directions of Congress leadership to help the migrant workers in every possible manner.

He said almost all DCC Presidents were doing their best to implement the AICC directions in carrying out nationwide agitation programmes. “They are working too hard in extreme adverse conditions. They are facing harassment by the local police and administration. Many of them were also implicated in false cases by the TRS regime. But they are promptly organising all the programmes by mobilising funds and other resources on their own,” he said.

Reddy said that the TRS was exploiting the beneficiaries of various schemes like Aasra Pension, Kalyana Laxmi or Rythu Bandu of the State Government and treating them as its vote bank. He said that the TRS Government was covering up its major failures by giving hype to a few programmes which were already in implementation (in different forms and names) even before TRS came to power in 2014. Further, he alleged that the TRS leaders were using their ill-gotten money to lure the voters in every election. Citing an instance, he alleged that nearly Rs. 100 crore were spent by TRS to win Huzurnagar by-elections. He asked the DCC Presidents to get mentally prepared to beat such unethical tactics of TRS in next elections.

The TPCC Chief also announced that the Congress party would wage a legal battle to get land to build party offices in all districts. He said that the State Government had issued orders to provide one acre land to establish offices of political parties in the districts. However, he said, so far, land has been allotted only for TRS while the applications from other parties have been kept pending. He said that the Congress party would approach the court against this injustice and partisan behaviour.

He said that the administration was in utter chaos in the districts. He said that the TRS Govt has carved out 33 districts out of 10 districts that existed at the time of formation of Telangana. He said that the old districts were divided without any rationalisation or logic. Consequently, he said that the District Administration was badly affected in the majority of newly created districts due to shortage of infrastructure, manpower and other resources.

The TPCC Chief also hinted that the Congress party would come up with an attractive package for all the members as part of membership drive to be launched next month. He informed the AICC Incharge Manickam Tagore that Congress president Sonia Gandhi had already cleared the proposal to include accidental insurance to all the members of Congress party and she had authorised the States to finalise the modalities.

Uttam announced that the Congress party would launch a month-long agitation from September 25 against the new anti-farmer Laws of BJP Government. He asked all DCC Presidents to ensure active participation of the entire Congress cadre in the proposed agitation besides extending support to the protests being organised by the Left parties and other farmers’ organisations.

Addressing the DCC Presidents, AICC Incharge Manickam Tagore said that the DCCs must play an important role in the agitation against the new anti-farmer laws of BJP Government. He said that the agitation would continue till the BJP Govt withdraws the controversial Bills. He alleged that Prime Minister Narender Modi was trying to hand over the entire farming sector in India to his corporate friends like Adani. While PM Modi and Adania are acting as villains to farmers, Telangana CM K. Chandrashekhar Rao and his son K. Tarakarama Rao were behaving like mute spectators to the injustice being done to the farming community.

Describing the DCCs as the backbone of Congress party, Tagore assured that all DCCs would be given due recognition and importance. He said no major decision would be taken without consulting the DCC Presidents. He said a new system would be put in place to incorporate the views and suggestions of DCCs in the strategy. He said various parameters would be set and DCCs would be involved in the decision-making process including the selection of candidates. He asked them to keep themselves ready for next elections in terms of infrastructure and other requirements.

Tagore said that a new consultation mechanism would be put in place along with fixing accountability. “Future of the Congress party lies in our hands. We are among a few privileged people who got a role to play for the betterment of society. Many aspirants could not reach where we stand today. Therefore, we should develop an effective communication system and design a better consultation mechanism to ensure achievement of desired goals. Our main aim, as a team, should be to win the next Assembly elections in 2023,” he said.

Tagore made it clear that discipline would be of paramount importance and not an iota of indiscipline within the party would be tolerated. He noted that social media was being used within the party to defame or promote a few Congress leaders. “Even this will be treated as indiscipline. Social media should be used to take the Congress party’s message to the public and not to tarnish the image of any Congress leader,” he warned.

The AICC Incharge directed the DCC presidents to commence work on enrolment of voters for Graduates Constituencies of Telangana Legislative Council. He also asked them to strengthen the party’s organisational network at Panchayat Raj level and finalise the names of Mandal Presidents at the earliest. He asked the entire Congress cadre to work as a team to achieve the goal of bringing Congress party to power in 2023 Assembly elections. He reminded that Congress president Sonia Gandhi had given several sacrifices to grant statehood for Telangana. Therefore, he said it should be the duty of all Congress leaders and workers to bring the party to power in this State. (Maxim News)
