WWM Conducts International Expo On Water, Waste Management
Hyderabad, Feb.17 (Maxim News): Water & Waste Management (WWM) conducted an International Conference and Expo on Water & Waste Management, today at Hotel Manohar in Begumpet here.
The governor of State Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan was the Chief guest at the event. Speaking on the occasion, she Emphasized on the need for “Swach” initiatives for managing water and waste in the current scenario of environmental issues. Highlighting the need for development and designing of waste water treatment technologies, she said that , transition towards the clean environment was needed for sustainable development. She lauded the Efforts of the union government and initiatives of the state government for managing the waste water.
During the meeting it was suggested to come-up with specific action plans with respect to water and waste management proposals in Telangana that aid in providing solutions for managing water and waste. The delegation from abroad and India was invited to the Rajbhavan for discussing the action plan in this regard.
The Commissioner of MWRD Frank Avila, through her video message, said that they were extending the collaboration of MWRD Chicago for finding solutions with regard to Waste, Wastewater, rainwater, storm water etc. Technical and scientific experts in the said areas and research department. He mentioned about the need for capacity building through exchange/ transfer of Technologies in this regard across India.
Dr. Prakasam Tata, the Co Chair of WWW and from Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (MWRD), Chicago highlighted the importance of ensuring water availability in India. He also added that identification of Water and energy nexus for Implementation of Policy in the context of Swach-Bharat. He emphasized the need for initiating action plan as per MoU of EPTRI with MWRD and its utilization for extending the cooperation for river rejuvenation and waste and water management (Maxim News)
