Ayodhya/Hyderabad, Nov 8 (Maxim News): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath celebrated Diwali with members of the Nishad community in Ayodhya on Sunday.
He visited Nishad Basti, interacted with residents and children, and extended festive greetings. He also distributed sweets and gifts to mark the occasion.
Local residents gathered to take selfies with the Chief Minister during his visit.
Addressing the gathering, Yogi called on people to protect Ayodhya’s sanctity and prestige. He urged them not to give another opportunity to forces seeking to tarnish the city’s reputation.
Recalling past incidents of firing on Ram devotees during the Ram Janmabhoomi movement, he said such incidents would not happen again.
He asserted that devotees chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ would not face firing or lathi charges in Ayodhya.
Yogi said Ayodhya’s public image had changed significantly over the past decade. He recalled that people once turned away upon hearing the city’s name. Today, he said, residents of Ayodhya receive respect and warm welcomes across the country.
The Chief Minister also referred to the ideals of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. He said the delivery of government welfare schemes to disadvantaged sections reflected the success of good governance.
He described this approach as part of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar’s vision.
Yogi said Diwali celebrations in Ayodhya recalled the return of Lord Ram thousands of years ago. He added that he preferred celebrating the festival in the holy city.
He said the tradition would continue to inspire future generations.
