A tragic incident occurred at Punyapuram village in Wyra mandal of Khammam district, where a 24-year-old youth was crushed to death after falling into a rotavator used for ploughing fields. The accident took place on Friday when the victim accompanied a tractor driver to learn driving in the agricultural fields. The shocking mishap has left the local community in deep grief.
The victim was identified as Chirra Harish, a resident of Punyapuram. According to initial reports, Harish went to the fields with tractor driver V Appa Rao to learn the operation. While the vehicle was being used for ploughing, Harish sat on the rear tyre mudguard, behind the driver’s seat.
During the operation, Harish lost balance and accidentally fell into the rotavator attached to the tractor. The machine crushed him instantly, causing fatal injuries. Locals alerted the police following the incident. Wyra sub-inspector Pushpala Rama Rao reached the site, conducted a preliminary inquiry, and registered a case.
Police shifted the body for post-mortem and have begun an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal accident. The tragedy has once again raised serious concerns about safety measures in rural agricultural operations. Many farmers and helpers, including youth, continue to risk their lives while working with heavy equipment without proper safety training or guidance.
The incident serves as a reminder of the urgent need for awareness and precaution while handling farm machinery. Police officials said further details would be revealed after completing the investigation.
