Youngster Held For Harassing A Minor Girl
Hyderabad: The Rachakonda Cybercrime police arrested a youngster on charges of stalking and harassing a minor girl on social networking app Instagram here on Tuesday. Officials said the suspect sent sexually explicit photos and messages to the girl through a fake Instagram account and demanded money from her.
The arrested person was identified as D.Shubham Yadav (20), a daily wage worker in a pan shop and a resident of the Housing Board Colony in Bahadurpura.
According to the police, the victim’s sister and Shubham Yadav were classmates in intermediate and the victim subsequently became friends with him.
“At that time. he took photos of them together on his mobile phone. A few days later, he started blackmailing her to send her nude photos and videos by threatening to upload their photos on social media platforms,” police said, adding that he threatened and made her share a video of her sister changing her clothes to him through WhatsApp.
He then created a fake Instagram account and started sending threatening messages and screenshots of that private video to the victim’s Instagram account to extort money from her.
“He threatened to upload the video on social media platforms if she did not pay him,” officials said.
Following a complaint from the victim, the cybercrime police booked a case and arrested Yadav from his house.
He was produced before court and remanded in judicial custody.
