Zero Budget Natural Farming Should Be Encouraged In The Country: AP Governor
Vijayawada, Sept.25 (Maxim News): Participating in the Seminar on “Zero Budget Prakrutik Kheti” held at the Swamy Shradhanand Gurukul, Kurukshetra, Haryana on Wednesday, Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan said farmers in the country should be encouraged to adopt zero budget natural farming in a big way to gradually move away from chemical-intensive farming. The Governor said efforts are underway by the Andhra Pradesh government to cover 5.80 lakh farmers under the zero budget natural farming, covering an area of 2.32 lakh hectares in 2019-20.
Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Gujarat Governor Acharya Dev Vrat, Haryana Governor Satyadev Narayan Arya and MP Governor Lalji Tandon, have also participated in the seminar.
A Sub-committee of Governors on Reforms in Agriculture was constituted by the President Ram Nath Kovind, with Gujarat Governor as Convener and Governors of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana as Members to study the current situation of agriculture in the country and to submit a report on recommendations for reforms in the Agriculture sector in the country.
Governor Harichandan outlined various farmer-friendly programmes being implemented by the Andhra Pradesh government such as the YSR Rythu Bharosa to provide financial investment support and YSR Rythu Bima to reduce financial burden on farmers in the event of crop loss, for which the premium amount is paid by the government on behalf of the farmer.
