‘Zero Shadow Day’ observed at MANUU

Hyderabad, May 11: The Physics section of School of Sciences (SoS), Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) and G-20 University connect programme committee of SoS organized a two Day programme to observe ‘Zero Shadow Day’.

A special lecture ‘Chasing the shadows’ by Prof. Syed Najamul Hasan, Department of Mathematics was delivered on May 08. He spoke about G-20 countries and gave introductory talk on the subject. Dr. Priya Hasan, Assistant Professor (Physics) gave a detailed presentation on the Zero Shadow Day.

Prof P. K. Suresh, School of Physics, University of Hyderabad elaborated the relevance of astronomical observations for the society. Prof Salman Ahmad Khan, Dean, School of Sciences welcomed the gathering.

The Zero Shadow was observed on 9th May at 12:13 pm with activities to define true cardinal points: North, South, East and West.

Prof. Aleem Basha, Co-ordinator, Physical Sciences, Prof Shakeel Ahmad, SoS and Dr. Ira Khan, Chairperson, G-20 University connect programme committee of SOS and other committee members were present.

Dr. Rizwan Ul Haq Ansari, Assistant Professor (Physics) proposed vote of thanks.

The faculty members, students, and non-teaching staff attended the programme.
